Spontaneous Fermentation

Mystic Brewery has just released Vinland, a beer made to celebrate their first anniversary. Although no fruit was used to create the beer, the yeast comes from a variety of plums in MA.

I has been a long time since my last post – mostly because the addition of a child to our family has left little time to hide behind a camera lens. Luckily, the HONK festival in Somerville, MA every year provides a weekend of non-stop photography. Here is a look at this year’s HONK (for more photos go here)

More from the 2010 Honkfest – this time What Cheer Brigade. I think the tom-tom player might not like photographers (he nearly took my teeth out – you’ll see!) I really, really love this band and the energy they bring!

It isn’t “high quality” video but I’d like to present the Detroit Party Marching Band at Honkfest 2010!

I was out at Zumix in East Boston today with Environmental Encroachment from Chicago as part of the first day of Honk! 2010. Here are some highlights:

The 2009 HONK! festival kicked off yesterday around the Greater Boston area. 30 activist street bands decended on Somerville and parts of Boston. I spent the afternoon on Friday at the Boys and Girls Club in Dudley Square and then joined the party in Davis Square today. The bands come from around the world and raise awareness about the importance of music as well as carrying anti-war, pro-health care messages. You can find and comment on more photos through flickr but for now, here are some of my favorites from today:
